Local business makes donation for the dogs

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – One of the largest pet supply stores in Albuquerque is making a gigantic donation to an animal shelter.

KRQE News 13 cameras were rolling when Long Leash on Life dropped off three tons of dog food to Animal Humane’s food bank.

More than 20 volunteers bagged and separated the canine meals for distribution.

Animal shelter officials say the demand for dog food has nearly tripled in less than a year.

“We are serving over a 1,000 visitors a month and unfortunately the food is not keeping up with the need. We’re running out almost weekly,” said Vince Mouser of Animal Humane.

Mouser said the organization is continuously looking for local partners like Long Leash on Life to match the rising demand for dog food.
