Lobos lose 7th straight game

Lobos fall to Aztecs, lose 5th straight

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Some Lobo basketball fans are probably wondering if Craig Neal’s squad will win again during the regular season. Boise State handed the team its seventh straight loss in a 76-65 finish at Taco Bell Arena on Tuesday night.

The Broncos relied heavily on the three point line making 15 of 34 attempts from the arc. Senior guard Derrick Marks led the way for the Broncos, converting 30 points. Forward Nick Duncan torched the Lobos for 26 points behind 8 three point buckets. Lobos senior guard Deshawn Delaney scored 14 points in a losing effort. The only other Lobo senior, guard Hugh Greenwood, scored 13 points along with 4 assists.

The Lobos had trouble protecting the basketball. They had 11 turnovers compared to that of five for Boise State. The last time the Lobos lost seven consecutive games was during the 1970-71 season under Bob King. The Lobos most consecutive losses came during the 1958-59 season under Bob Sweeney. The Lobos have two games left on the regular season schedule, starting at Fresno State Saturday and ending with Wyoming at home March 7.
