A storm system which has been sitting well out to our west for the past three or four days will finally move through the state on Tuesday. The heaviest snow will fall along the west facing slopes of the northern mountains and over Southwest Colorado. Many areas above 9000′ could pick up 4 to 6 inches of additional snow. Meanwhile, here in the metro area we will pick up scattered rain and snow during the day on Tuesday before clearing out on Wednesday.
That clearing trend won’t last long though. Another powerful cold front will blast into the northeast spreading heavy snow along the east slope so the northern mountains on Thursday. The snow machine will keep rolling into Friday over eastern New Mexico. Here in the metro area our biggest impact from the cold front will be some more showers but also gusty east winds. There are more storms on tap for the weekend and into next week.
