Icy roads may have caused fatal crash involving child

ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – State police believe icy roads may have caused a deadly car crash over the weekend.

It happened around 10 a.m. Sunday near highway 285 just north of Roswell.

According to state police, the driver of a Ford pickup was heading north when it hit a portion of ice on the road. The truck then crossed the median into oncoming traffic before rolling.

An 8-year-old child was ejected; he died on scene. Two other occupants were also injured.

The crash is still under investigation.
