Boxer nearly dies saving her owner

CINCINNATI, OHIO (CNN) –  A 9-year-old boxer who nearly died trying to save her owner from a house fire is making a stunning recovery and getting used to her new home.

Carmen was found lying over her owner, Ben’s face trying to protect him from smoke. As a result, the canine suffered severe lung damage.

Her owner, Ben didn’t make it.

His brother Phil is Carmen’s new owner. Phil says Carmen was like a child to his brother.

Carmen underwent intensive, round the clock treatment.

People donated around $29,000 once they heard her story which covered her medical bills.
