Student discovers employment scheme on UNM site

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The University of New Mexico has pulled a job ad from its student employment site, after it was revealed that it might be a scheme. The site is designed to link UNM students with outside job opportunities. The ad in question was submitted by a company called Bullard Designs.

One student who applied said it seemed suspicious when the person offering him the job said he would be getting a check for running errands. The student later received fake money orders in the mail.

A UNM spokesperson says the ad has since been pulled. She also ads that the university is diligent in checking out the ads before they post to make sure they don’t appear suspicious, but there’s no way of knowing for sure. There is also a disclaimer on the website.
