Chris’ Thursday Afternoon Forecast

High clouds are coming in from the west today and they will filter our sunshine this afternoon.   However, these clouds will not keep our temperatures down.   Highs will be well above average for this time of year once again.   Albuquerque could come close to 70° today and our record is 72°.    So enjoy this afternoon because the wind starts cranking up on Friday ahead of a storm system and cold front that will impact New Mexico over the weekend.   Temperatures will stay warm ahead of the front for Friday and Saturday, but the cold air rolls in on Sunday.   Highs will be almost 15°-30° colder and below average in Eastern New Mexico by Sunday afternoon.   This cold air will support the chance for Northern Mountain snow and in the Northeast.   We could see some shower action even in the Southeast.  The wind will stay breezy to windy on Sunday with cooler temperatures felt all across the state.   After Sunday, temperatures will warm up some as skies begin to clear out on Monday.
