Mayor hosts NM 2015 Special Olympics

Mayor's Indoor Track Invitational draws dozens

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Mayor Richard Berry will host a special event that has opportunities for those participating that can only be found in here in Albuquerque.

The Special Olympics will be kicking off Saturday, Feb. 21. The mayor is partnering up with the City of Albuquerque Parks and Recreation Department for this event.

This is the sixth year that Mayor Berry has hosted this event.

Athletes from four communities in the state will come together at the only Special Olympic program that allows for the opportunity to compete in a track and field event.

This event will start at 10 a.m. where the mayor will give a personal greeting to each of the athletes from 10 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. This event ends at 3 p.m.
