Valentine’s Day event to benefit homeless women and children

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – There’s a way to show the homeless women and children of Albuquerque that you care this Valentine’s Day, and all you have to do is enjoy a romantic night out with your sweetheart.

The Barrett Foundation, a homeless shelter for women and children, is hosting their first-ever International Night of Passion.

On Saturday, Feb. 14, themed entertainment, samples of international food, a gourmet dinner, dancing to live music, a raffle and silent auction will create an unforgettable Valentine’s Day.

This Valentine’s Day event will help to benefit the homeless shelter to provide shelter, food clothing and case management services for women and children in need.

The Barrett Foundation has been helping women and children for 25 years. This emergency shelter serves more than 800 women and children each year while providing 22,000 meals, 7,000 beds, and more than 1,000 hours of case management a year.

This program helps to transition women from the streets to independent living, where most were pushed on the street due to housing foreclosures. Other causes include personal tragedy, trauma, mental illness and substance abuse.

This event will be held at Hotel Albuquerque and starts at 6 p.m.
