ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The issue of Tent City is dividing the Barelas neighborhood. Neighbors say they don’t want the homeless camping near their homes.

But the Barelas Neighborhood Association offered up the empty parking log on Second and Santa Fe for them set up camp. The lot is privately owned and the owner says he never agreed to let them camp on his land.

This Sunday there will be a community meeting about Tent City. It’s from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Casa Barelas which is located at 1024 4th Street SW. For more information contact the Barelas Community Coalition (505)243-3333.
