Kids in hospital greeted with homemade valentines

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Albuquerque kids made sick children smile with homemade Valentine’s Day cards.

Kids from St. Jude Thaddeus Church gave patients at the children’s center at Presbyterian Hospital valentine gifts Friday.

Volunteers said they were excited to make the cards because they knew kids in the hospital wouldn’t have a normal Valentine’s Day.

“The kids in the hospital don’t get to go into a classroom and have a Valentine’s Day party,” said Renae Maes of St. Jude Thaddeus Church. “So it’s nice to see kids our age thinking of them, and they get to have something else like a card, so that they are being thought of on Valentine’s Day.”

The community service project was started by two sisters in the church. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
