ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – People being kicked out of a downtown homeless camp have a new place to live. People living at “Tent City” packed up and moved from First and Iron to an empty lot a few blocks away on Second and Santa Fe.

On Monday, the city gave campers an order to leave by Thursday morning or face a judge. The Barelas Neighborhood Association stepped in and gave campers written permission to stay in a vacant lot they own. The center plans on building on the lot but construction isn’t slated for at least three years.
