Powerball numbers drawn for $500M jackpot

Powerball excitement sweeps NM

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Powerball fever is in full force in New Mexico as the jackpot has climbed to $500 million. The winning numbers were 11,13,25,39,54 and the Powerball was 19.

According to the Lottery Act (6-24-15 Lottery tickets; sales)

“Tickets may be purchased only with cash or a check and shall not be purchased on credit.”

Lottery tickets are available at many grocery, gas and convenience stores.

John Arthur Smith introduced a bill to the Senate (SB0355) on 1/29/2015 proposing the following changes:

“Tickets may be purchased only with cash [or a], check or debit card and shall not be purchased on credit unless the lottery purchase is twenty dollars ($20.00) or less.”

If someone wins, a cash option before taxes would be almost $338 million. The odds of winning a jackpot are one in 175 million, but people KRQE News 13 spoke with say they’re already thinking of ways they’d use the money.

“Well, my clients might not like to hear this, but I’d retire,” said Winter Laite.

Daryl Romero said he’d “get my family set. Buy a house for my family, a car.”

Staff at the convenience store said expect massive sales leading up to the drawing.

“Hundreds, Thousands, by this afternoon, who knows? By the time they draw tonight, it gets pretty crazy,” said Jessica Vandermolen, who is a clerk.

If someone in New Mexico wins the jackpot, that will break the state’s record of nearly $207 million in 2008.

The record Powerball jackpot was $590.5 million in 2013 in Florida.
