Cow escapes livestock auction

ROSWELL, NM (KRQE) – An escape caused quite the excitement in Roswell but it wasn’t from the detention center, it was from the livestock auction.

Workers from the auction, along with their horses, had to chase down the cow that bolted from the auction Monday morning. The cow was eventually taken back in custody.

New Mexico Educators Credit Union is changing its name

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE)- CEO Terry Laudick says their name was too confusing for customers who thought it was an exclusive club and implied membership was restricted to educators.

The new name is Nusenda Credit Union, a name they made up. Laudick says nothing but the name has changed. Nusenda is not an acronym and has no particular meaning.

SpaceX to attempt another launch

CAPE CANAVERAL, FLA. (KRQE) – SpaceX will try again to launch a Falcon 9 rocket from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.It’s the same type of rocket that could launch from Spaceport America in the future. It’s scheduled to launch at around 4 p.m. This is the company’s second attempt to launch a space satellite for NASA. It’ll then try to land the rocket on a small platform off the coast of Florida. Last-minute radar trouble halted Sunday’s countdown and SpaceX skipped Monday because of rain.

Bill would protect working pregnant women

SANTA FE (KRQE) – A New Mexico lawmaker says he wants the state to do a better job protecting pregnant women in the workplace. Rep. Terry McMillan of Las Cruces is introducing legislation requiring employers to provide a more flexible schedule and leave time during pregnancy. McMillan says he wants to put New Mexico more in line with federal standards. The bill was filed Monday.
