Board game cafe to make moves in Nob Hill

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – People love coffee, and they love to play board games. Pretty soon the two will mix as a first-of-its-kind business is coming to Nob Hill.

Outside the old No. 13 Boutique on Central NE near Carlisle, News 13 has learned of plans to open the Empire Board Game Library.

Playing board games is a tradition that conjures up old memories, but in this video game age, the old-fashioned way of playing games is making a comeback.

“I like board games better,” said Paulette Ford, who was excited to hear about the plans, where customers can choose from hundreds of board games. “I think that sounds like super good fun,” she added.

The cafe will feature beverages such as coffee and will rent out more than 600 games, from the classics that everyone knows to the more obscure games from the past.

Dante Valore said, “I think it’s a great idea. Games are wonderful.”

The board game cafe concept has been successful in other places including Canada.

The Empire Board Game Library could open as early as May.
