Murderer wins appeal for lighter sentence

Eugene Ferri

MESILLA, N.M. (KRQE) – The man convicted of murdering his former business partner and two others has won his appeal for a lighter sentence, but it will only be one year less.

Eugene Ferri shot and killed Gille Delisle, his wife Helga, and their friend Peter Weith in Mesilla in 2010. The killings were allegedly in response to a lawsuit the Delisles had filed against Ferri for $1.3 million.

Ferri was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences, plus 17 and a half years, one of them being a firearm enhancement.

The court of appeals ruled that firearm enhancement should be vacated. The rest of his sentence will stand. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
