Lobos lose 2nd straight to Utah State 63-60

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The Lobos were coming off a tough loss to Air force on Wednesday, and they were hoping to bounce back with a win on Saturday night against Utah State. That didn’t happen as the Lobos lost a 9-point lead in the first half, and didn’t seem to find a grove until it was too late.

Coach Craig Neal said before this game that his team needed to bring a strong post presence and get points in the paint. The Lobos succeeded at that, outscoring the Aggies 34-24 in the paint. They also out rebounded Utah State 36-26.

Obij Aget would be the overall point leader for the Lobos with 10. Sam Logwood would be second in line with 9 points. The seniors didn’t make as big of an impression this game as Deshawn Delaney had 7 points, and Hugh Greenwood had 8 points. Greenwood would try and bring his Lobos back into the game as he nailed two clutch threes in opportune times, but it wouldn’t be enough.

The Lobos fall to 6-5 in conference play. Coach Neal just wants his team to keep their heads up and keep moving forward.

“They have been in every game they have played. Tonight they were in it, they just couldn’t get through it. We need to finish better and do things like that, but I am going to be really positive with them and we have a long way to go,” said Neal.

The Lobos have a quick turnaround as hey hit the road to play Colorado State on Tuesday. That game will tip off at 9 p.m.
