ABQ to host female poets from around the world

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Albuquerque will host the Women of the World (WOW) Poetry Slam Championship for the first time in 10 years this March.

Seventy-two of the best female poets in the world will visit the city to perform and compete for four days.

There will also be poetry workshops, themed open mics, special nighttime events, ceremonies and parties.

Event hosts will be Albuquerque poet laureate Jessica Helen Lopez, organizer and Women of the World City Champ 2013 Jasmie Cuffee, poet and publisher Katrina Guarascio, and Erin Northern, who is a poet, teacher and Outspoken Slam organizer, and Amanda Sutton, a literary promoter and programmer.
