Secret Circus fuses genres to create own sound

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A new sound from across the pond lives right here in New Mexico.

Swedish twin brothers, Klaus and Joel Åhman, have created a sound all their own along with their bass player and cousin, Martin Sternelius. They call themselves Secret Circus.

Combinations of classic rock, blues and a gypsy style of music have fused this family-made band into what they are calling folkadelic rock.

Fans have described their genre as a mix of Pink Floyd, Dire Straits and a hint of Hendrix, creating music with a vintage ’70s flavor.

Secret Circus was born in 2008 in Stockholm, Sweden, after the trio quit their jobs to tour Europe and produce their debut album, “This is Secret Circus.”

Their second album, “LMNT,” was released in 2012.

Every winter, the band flees the cold winter of Sweden and spends their time writing and recording in Roswell, N.M.

Secret Circus joined KRQE This Morning team Wednesday; watch their interview and performance above.
