ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – An advocacy group has sent letters to the nation’s largest dollar store chains after finding toxic chemicals in their products bought in Albuquerque. The Campaign for Healthier Solutions tested more than 100 Duke City dollar store products for toxic chemicals.
They bought toys, jewelry and school supplies. They say more than 81 percent of those products contain at least one hazardous chemical they say can cause cancer and learning disabilities. The group said 40 percent of sales at dollar stores go toward food products, much of which is highly processed with low nutrients and packaged with BPA. a synthetic hormone linked to cancer.
