Detective shot by fellow officer in serious condition

APD Officer shooting

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The undercover detective shot by a lieutenant after a drug bust went wrong continues to recover. An Albuquerque Police Department spokesman said Jacob Grant remains hospitalized in serious condition and will remain hospitalized for some time.

Grant was shot after the lieutenant opened fire after seeing one of the suspects pull out a gun, which police later learned was a pellet gun, last month near Central and Tramway.

Drug charges were later dropped against the suspects in the case but APD said they will be re-filed once all officers involved are in a better state to assist the prosecution.
