ALBUQUERQUE (AP) — The National Weather Service says parts of central and northern New Mexico are going to get significant snowfall over the next couple of days.
Forecasters say widespread precipitation will start Thursday night and continue through Saturday, with snow accumulations across the western and central mountains beginning Thursday evening.
The weather service says precipitation will expand across all of northern and central New Mexico on Friday and that widespread precipitation will continue through Saturday.
Snow levels are expected to fluctuate but that elevations lower than 7,000 may see a mix of rain and snow.
More than a foot of snow is possible at elevations above 9,000 feet, so forecasters are warning of the possibility of roof collapses.
