ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – For a second time this week a popular national magazine is attacking the Albuquerque Police Department. Rolling Stone magazine’s article on APD is called “When Cops Break Bad: Inside a Police Force Gone Wild.” Most of it centers around the death of James Boyd.
It says he was illegally camping in the foothills, which is a petty misdemeanor, a that it drew what the magazine calls a “spectacular circus” with 40 officers, the SWAT team, the K-9 unit and the ROP team.
The two officers who shot him are now charged with murder. Earlier this week APD was the focus of a scathing story in The New Yorker.
