Following hazing case, UNM picks new soccer coach

Family members of hazing victims speak out

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The University of New Mexico will announce its new women’s soccer coach Thursday.

The new coach will replace Kit Vela, whose contract wasn’t renewed.

It came after the hazing incident where underclassmen were hazed and humiliated last year, Two of them even ended up in the hospital with alcohol poisoning.

Vela and several upper classmen were suspended as a result of the hazing.
