Police arrest suspected car thief, burglar

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Police arrested a man Tuesday who they say stole a vehicle and tried to break into a home in Albuquerque.

Simon P. Gonzales, 40, is accused of going to a home on the 2400 block of Spring Flower around 9:30 a.m. and ringing the doorbell for several minutes. The resident called 911, saying that after the door wasn’t answered, Gonzales tried to open the door but it was locked. He then proceeded to go to the back door to gain entry, police said. He eventually left the home, and was seen by arriving officers in a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

Police say Gonzales then fled on food. They were able to find him about an hour and 20 minutes later using K-9 units.

Gonzales has been arrested and will be charging with receiving/transferring a stolen motor vehicle. He was arrested 18 days ago for residential burglary.
