Burglar caught on camera while homeowner watches

burglary suspect

BELEN, N.M. (KRQE) – Imagine being at work when your home security system app notifies you that someone is inside your home. Then imagine watching a video feed as a stranger rummages through your personal belongings.

That’s what happened to Brian Wood, who works in Albuquerque, but lives south of Belen.

The burglar knocked a couple of times Monday afternoon before kicking in the door. In eight minutes, he tore apart the house, but only took a crossbow, pool cue, some change – and finally, the surveillance camera itself.

Wood says he called 911 and was connected to Bernalillo County, which transferred him to Valencia County. Wood says dispatchers told him Valencia County had no available deputies, so they dispatched State Police. By the time officers arrived, the burglar was gone.

If you have any information about the suspect, call State Police.
