FARMINGTON, N.M. (KRQE) – Laurence Pine, 30 of Farmington, was arrested on New Year’s Eve, 2014 for his 16th DUI. Police were called to a home for a possible domestic violence situation when Pine fled the scene, taking two small children with him.
As Pine tried to flee the scene he hit a parked car and was reportedly driving erratically down the street. Police located the vehicle a short while later at a gas station and made contact with Pine and the two children, eight and eleven.
Police arrested and charged Pine with DUI, two counts of child abuse, open container, failure to maintain traffic lanes, driving while license revoked and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A warrant was obtained for a blood draw to determine Pine’s blood alcohol level and he was transported to San Juan Regional Medical Center. While he was there, Pine fled from officers. He was additional charged with escape from custody.
Pine is being held on a $200,000 bond.
During the course of the investigation it was discovered that Pine repeatedly kicked hit the children while they were in the vehicle. According to the Farmington police, they are his biological children.
