ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A young man, who became quite the inspiration in New Mexico, has lost his battle with cancer. KRQE News 13 first reported on 20-year-old Zack Smith back in April.

He’s from Clovis and has been fighting an aggressive form of brain cancer since he was 16-years-old. He would crochet scarves, sell them and use the money to buy toys for other sick children.

Zack also always wanted his high school diploma, so in May he was presented an honorary diploma from APS.

He died earlier this week. Services are scheduled for Monday.
