LAS CRUCES (KRQE) – The Las Cruces Police Department’s SWAT team is welcoming their newest and youngest member on the force. Jaeton Monroe is six years old and has a rare form of cancer called Ewing’s sarcoma in which cancer cells are found in the bone or soft tissue.

Jaeton has already undergone six months of chemotherapy and will soon have surgery, followed by more chemotherapy treatments.

The officers surprised Jaeton and his mother with an early Christmas.

He was given lots of gifts and a shirt signifying his honorary membership with the SWAT team.
