ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Fourth Street is back open and it’s going back to its historic roots as the cross-roads of Route 66.

The city says the new design will bring more business to the downtown corridor because it’s streamlined for all traffic with added bike lanes, on-street parking, street lighting and sidewalks big enough for out-door patios.

To go with the route 66 theme, classic cars lined the street for Friday’s grand opening.

The project took about a year to complete and cost about$1.5 million.
