APD chaplains deliver holiday gifts

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Some Albuquerque families are going to be able to celebrate the holidays with gifts thanks to Albuquerque police.

APD chaplains delivered boxes filled with food and basic necessities to Matheson Park Elementary Friday. That’s near Candelaria and Juan Tabo.

Chaplain Al Adams said they have identified many families there who are struggling.

“When you do this and you get to see the smiles on the family’s face, that they are getting something that they didn’t get to have for the christmas season, you just feel a lot better for what you are doing.” Chaplain Adams said.

“They have services 17 of our families that without them this year would not have Christmas, there would be no presents under the tree. No big smiles in the morning,” Bonnie Falkentha with Matheson Park Elementary school said.

The families are nominated by the teachers.
