ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A private social network has released a new feature for the holidays that shows the best spots for holiday cheer all over the country, including in Albuquerque.

Keith Weathersby has decorated his house for Christmas for years and is pleased his home on Valencia Drive in Northeast Albuquerque is recognize on the Nextdoor Holiday Cheer Map.

“We used to have as many as 25,000 people come through here on Christmas Eve,” he said. “I just do it because it gives people joy,” he added.

The social network connects neighborhoods on a variety of issues year-round, but this holiday season, it’s all about the Christmas connection.

“It’s been incredibly popular. When we launched the feature a few days ago, Albuquerque was one of the first places to start pinning holiday spots on the map,” said Kelsey Grady, spokesperson for Nextdoor.

Albuquerque has more than 75 cheer map pins, and each day, it grows.

“If there’s a neighbor who goes all out during the holiday season, you can plot their home on the map. You can also report Santa sightings, or areas to get a tree, tree lots,” said Grady. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
