A mild Friday afternoon is ahead of us with most of New Mexico in the mid-50s to mid-60s. Some areas will even reach into the low 70s across the far southeastern portions of the state. We’ll start the day with mostly clear conditions with a bit more cloud cover filling in for the remainder of the day.
A strong storm system moving in from the west will kick up the winds across western New Mexico on Saturday morning before showers push in by late evening. Northern mountains look to be favored for 5-10 inches of snow by Sunday afternoon. Areas along and south of Interstate-40 can expect a few hit or miss showers beginning late Saturday and ending by early Sunday afternoon. Once the cold front passes tomorrow, cooler air will fill in over the state leaving most of us in the mid-40s to low 50s to end the weekend.
Another system looks to be on the way by midweek, cutting short our warm up next week. We’ll have details as we get closer.
