Judge refuses to ban Lyft

SANTA FE (KRQE) – Another ride-sharing service could soon be available after a judge refused to bar the business.

A district judge is refusing to enforce a cease-and-desist against Lyft put in place by the public regulation commission six months ago.

He told the Santa Fe New Mexican that he doesn’t have jurisdiction over the company because the commission hasn’t yet decided if it has regulatory authority over ride-sharing services like Lyft and Uber.

Cab companies don’t like the new service because they’re competition and don’t have to follow the same rules they do. Cab companies are regulated by the commission.
