ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Both coaches participating in this year’s New Mexico Bowl made a stop in Albuquerque Wednesday to talk up the December 20 game at University Stadium. UTEP football coach Sean Kugler is happy the game is just up the highway from El Paso, Texas. He believes his team’s fan base will travel well to Albuquerque.

Utah State coach Matt Wells feels the same way about Aggies fans. Wells is a former University of New Mexico assistant who is happy to have a game in familiar territory.

“It’s really neat for me you know,” said Wells. “I still own a home here. My 6-year-old was born here. I have a lot of friends.” Kugler’s Miners beat the Lobos at University Stadium during the regular season.

When talking about returning he said, “You know I really enjoy playing in Albuquerque. Having played at UTEP, you know, it was a long time rival.”
