Man said he witnessed Clovis trail murder

CLOVIS, N.M. (KRQE) – Investigators say someone witnessed the stabbing death of a New Mexico mother.

According to the Clovis News Journal, that person told Clovis police that on the morning Ariel Ulibarri was killed, he was crossing a fence at Goodwin Lake Trails Park when he heard wailing. He says at first he thought it was an animal being killed.

The witness then says he later saw Ulibarri’s 6-year-old son running toward the park entrance.

Ulibarri, 23, was later found dead in that same park. Police say her family found the murder weapon that connected Matthew Jennings to the crime. He confessed to the killing. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
