PORTALES, N.M. (KRQE) – One of the Portales men accused of luring another man using Craigslist then killing him, has been acquitted of murder. Erik Pina and two other men were accused of taking part in the 2011 shooting of Jose Montoya.
Montoya was trying to sell his car on Craigslist when he was shot, his car stolen, gutted and set on fire. Pina long maintained that he had no involvement in the murder. The jury found him not guilty of first degree murder but did convict him of armed robbery and possession of a stolen firearm.
