The rest of the workweek will be very nice with lots of sunshine and above-average temperatures. Albuquerque will touch near 60 degrees each and every afternoon now through Friday. Parts of the south will warm into the 70s.
The big changes move in this weekend as a winter storm drops in from the Pacific Northwest. This storm will track directly through New Mexico and pack colder air. Temperatures will drop 10 to 20 degrees from the start of the weekend to the finish.
There are still a few uncertainties with this storm. The first is moisture. One model shows a decent amount of moisture across the state, while another shows a bit less. Either way, we still stand to see at least scattered showers and mountain snow. The storm is also expected to pick up strength as it crosses the state. The earlier that happens, the bigger the rain and snow impact on the state will be.
Early next week starts cooler, with the return of sunshine. But long range models keep us in the storm track with the next one possibly arriving by midweek!
