ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE)- The 5A and 6A champions were crowned Friday, and the 3A and 4A were crowned Saturday.
The 3A match up between Estancia and Clayton was at 1:00 p.m. in Estancia. The Bears have been the underdog team of the tournament coming in as a 6 seed. The Bears didn’t disappoint again Saturday as they beat Clayton 14 to 6. All the points came in the first half of this one. It is also the first state title for this program since 1971.
The 4A match up was in Las Cruces at 1:30 p.m. The Cobre Indians and Ruidoso Warriors went head to head at the Field of Dreams. The Indians would get on the board first, but the warriors would be the ones to finish strong.
With the help of senior Parker Johnson who did everything from score touchdowns to getting a game clinching interception. The Warriors take the 4A state title 35-28 the final.
