ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A section of San Pedro between Lomas and Haines was just renamed the “Mile-hi District.” The new name is a nod to the area’s nickname from the 1950 when it was created.

Parts of the area are exactly a mile above sea level. The district already includes popular businesses like Christy Mae’s restaurant and ABC Cake Shop. People who live there say they see enormous potential for the newly branded business district.

The mile high district is one of several neighborhoods trying to boost business by rebranding. Others include east downtown, or Edo, the International District, and the Brick Light District near the University of New Mexico.
