New details in mysterious Santa Fe shooting

SANTA FE (KRQE) – A Santa Fe businessman shot outside his home in September had received death threats before.

According to a newly released police report from 2012, Peter Komis called police after someone called him and said, “I am going to get/kill you.”

The day before that call, Komis reported a suspicious man who attempted to get inside his home. Police say Komis created fliers with the man’s photo and posted them outside of his home, telling him to “go away.”

Police are not sure if that man is the one who called and made the threat.

Earlier this year, a burglar was captured on video breaking in to Komis’ residence and stealing $10,000 worth of jewelry.

On Sept. 30, Komis was shot twice in the back, in his driveway.

Police say they do not believe the shooting and burglary are connected and they don’t know if the call two years ago had anything to do with the most recent attack. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
