Freeze watches issued for Santa Fe, ABQ

Our storm system is moving out, but it is still producing showers this morning in eastern New Mexico. There could be some left over snow showers around the Northern Mountains while the San Juans of Southern Colorado remain under a Winter Storm Warning until 5 p.m. That is where some areas have already picked up 10″ or more of snow and more snow could fall throughout the afternoon.

Tonight the focus shifts to very cold temperatures. That is why freeze watches have been posted for Santa Fe, Albuquerque, and much of the Rio Grande Valley from tonight through Tuesday morning. We will likely see these watches upgraded to warnings before the day is over. After a cold Tuesday morning, temperatures will stay below average for Election Day afternoon. By the end of the week, temperatures recover and they’ll rebound so much we will be above average by week’s end.
