Blue Star Mothers prepare troops’ Christmas packages

Blue Star Mothers to make Christmas boxes for troops

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The Rio Grande Valley Blue Star Mothers are known for their efforts in providing troops overseas with care packages from back home. Right now, they are preparing for their Christmas packages by already asking for donations, both monetary and in products. Boxes have gone to thousands of soldiers, and the Christmas boxes are especially appreciated. Nov. 15 has been designated as a packing day, so Blue Star Mothers will want some volunteers to help with the actual packing and transportation to the Post Office. It will likely take a few hours, and it starts at 9 a.m.

They ask for protein bars, coffee, hand and feet warmers, chicken/tuna/salmon foil pouches, among other items. Those who want to participate can find a full list of what they still need on their website here. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
