Stylist gives tips on getting candy out of hair

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – It’s Halloween, and more than any other time kids are likely to get something in their hair. Whether it’s a simple piece of sticky candy, or a bit more messy with a tangled piece of gum, there are ways to get those sticky bits out of their hair without removing any, and with as little pain as possible.

Peanut butter and ice have been tried and true, but we learned this morning vegetable oil and olive oil also can do the trick. Even more, spritzing rubbing alcohol directly onto the hair has also proven to be very effective, perhaps the most.

Tangles can also be a problem, regardless of the time of year. So be sure to keep detangler and leave in conditioner handy. Prevent tangles in little girls’ hair by braiding it before they go to sleep, or spritzing the detangler or leave-in conditioner. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
