Couple violently steals purse in broad daylight

ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – A scary purse snatching took place in Roswell and the victim is afraid the suspects will do it again.

It happened in the parking lot of the Roswell Mall on Saturday afternoon.

The victim, Dane Leven, says she was about to get in her car when she noticed a silver car next to hers parked crooked. She waited for them to leave, but when they didn’t, she tried to get in her car.

“I turned my back on him and he grabbed me while sitting in his car pulling my upper torso to the front of his car and said ‘give me your f-ing purse.’ ” Leven said. “He got it in drive and when he did, the lady with him yanked it out of my hand. I couldn’t believe it happened to me in broad daylight on a Saturday afternoon.”

The woman is now sharing her story on Facebook, warning other women. She says the thief’s used her credit card in Edgewood, Vaughn and Albuquerque, and she says what’s even scarier is that the couple is very unassuming.

They’re a couple in their 50s both with salt and pepper hair, Leven said. The woman’s is long and was in a braid. The man was starting to bald and was chubby. Leven said they were driving a silver midsize car.
