Teen recognized for starting free library

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Local teen Annika Cushnyr recently received the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, State Level. She is currently in high school and has already made a big impact in the community with her idea for the “Giving Library.” This is essentially a free library, where people are able to take books forever. This won her the award and a trip to Washington D.C., where the program is based.

Cushnyr shared her experience winning the award, and urges other young people to take part in the program. Scholarships up to $5,000 are awarded, and it’s a good opportunity for students to have their voices heard.

Those interesting in the scholarships can apply online until Nov. 4  You can learn more about Annika’s library program here.
