NM man intervenes during airport attack

DALLAS, TEXAS (KRQE) – A man went on a tirade, confronting another traveler last Thursday, calling him gay for wearing a pink shirt.

The incident happened at the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

As seen in the video, the man then gets into the face of this Good Samaritan in a cowboy hat. This Good Samaritan is actually a Las Cruces salesman, who wanted to know why the other man was causing a scene. “What are you upset about?”

“Queers is what I’m upset about!” the angry man responds on the video. The rest of the exchange had to be edited for content.

He then goes on the physical attack – kicking, scratching and punching at which point a whole group jumped in to tackle him to the ground until police could intervene.

KRQE News 13 spoke with the New Mexico man Monday night about being right in the middle of the bizarre scene and he wasn’t ready to talk yet, but said the experience was overwhelming.

DFW Airport says they arrested the attacker, but declined to comment further. The attacker was asked on video why he did it.

“You want me to tell you the reason why I did it? Because this is America, that’s why. The same reason you get to live to breathe to walk black.”
