Early voting numbers in, trends similar to 2010

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The numbers for early voting are starting to come in and it looks like Bernalillo County is on track with 2010 election numbers.

As of Sunday, more than 33,300 voters in Bernalillo County had cast their ballots.

More than 16,000 of them were Democrats and 13,000 were Republicans.

More than 10,400 absentee ballots have also been returned. Over 4,307 were from Democrats and more than 5,000 were from Republicans.

The Bernalillo County Clerk’s Office said these figures were nearly identical to numbers seen during the last gubernatorial election back in 2010.

Many believed voter turnout would be higher because of two poll questions being put on the ballot, including one about reduced penalties for pot possession.
