Community Stadium hosts the YAFL Super Bowl

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Community Stadium hosted the 2014 YAFL Super Bowl Championships. It was an all-day event hosting divisions from Pee Wee to Varsity.

The first game of the day was in the Pee Wee division. The La Cueva Bears would get the win over the Volcano Vista Hawks 42-0.

The next game would be in the Rookie division and it was a close battle between the Rio Rancho Rams and the Albuquerque High Bulldogs. The score was 12 to 8 with under 1 minute left. The Rams would run the clock out and take the title home this year, 12-8 the final.

The freshman division was next, and this game has some history behind it. These two teams have faced each other two times in the YAFL Super Bowl. The Tigers have won it the past two years, but this time would be different. The Bears had a huge play in the first, Johnson threw a big pass to Armijo and he went all the way to the N-zone, over 45 yards on the play. Bears would take the lead and hang on to it, as the final of that one was 8-0.

Then in the Sophomore division the Cleveland Storm would beat the Bulldogs 40-19, in Juniors the Mustangs beat the Hawks 14-6, and in the Varsity division the Bears beat the Cougars 22-0.
