The wind is going to make a return to New Mexico this afternoon, then more fall-like temperatures finally arrive. A cold front is going to punch through the state today and that will crank up the wind this afternoon. It will be breezy to windy in parts of the state today. The strongest wind will be felt in the northeast. That is where the wind could gust as high as 40 mph. There’s a slight chance for some spotty showers around the higher terrain, but most areas will be dry.
Then when you step outside first thing on Tuesday, you will feel a chill in the air. Temperatures will start out in the 40s, 30s, and even the 20s for areas along I-40 and farther to the north. Highs on Tuesday will be more seasonable for this time of the year. But, by mid-week high pressure returns and that will send temperatures back above average.
